Scholarship Deadline:
March 31 of each year for next school year.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must be legally blind. Field of study should be directed toward attaining financial independence. Excludes study of religion and those seeking only to further general or cultural education. Recipients of Federation scholarships do not need to be members of National Federation of the Blind.

Description
Each year at its National Convention in July, the NFB gives a broad array of scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for these scholarships must be:

  • legally blind, and
  • pursuing or planning to pursue a fulltime, postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a United States institution
  • except that one scholarship may be given to a fulltime employee also attending school part-time.

In addition, some scholarships have been further restricted by the donor. The committee will consider a student for all scholarships NFB administers.
